Thule have lost the plot
By Richard Clist
Where to start:
I am a long time Thule fan and have many of their products. Buying this rack has made me rethink ever buying a Thule again.
Before I bought this item I checked on the Thule website that the Xsporter Pro would fit my 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport, no problems here. The item is sturdy well designed and easy to install. So ends my love affair.
Before purchasing I also checked the Thule website fit guide to ensure all my yak racks and bike racks would fit. The answer was yes. But wait when I went to put them on they did not fit.
I called the Thule help desk and the rude young person told me to check the website fit guide. “I have” “it should fit but does not”. After 20 minutes I was informed the website was wrong and all my Yak and bike racks would not fit and I needed to buy adapter kits. Ok let’s start with the Yak, it’s is Xadapt11, OK send me 3 by express post. No they could not as at the time none had been made. So Ok I have bought a $600+ racking system and cannot put my yak racks on it. The response from the Thule helpdesk was, well you will just have to wait for them to become available. Ok so can you send me 40 extra-long captive bolts for the Xsporter rack and I will modify the Yak rack. Thule response: NO, you will need to buy an adapter kit and take the bolts out. Needless to say the conversation stopped there.
Upshot, I went to my local hardware store and for 50 cents bought carriage bolts that fit the slot and were long enough to modify my bike and yak racks.
I purchased the Xsporter Pro about 8 weeks ago and since then the Xadapt11 has become available for $20 apiece.
I would highly recommend anyone considering this purchase to think again and look at alternatives. I do not mind paying a premium price for premium products, however to then have to shell out another $100+ for adapter kits is an insult.
Come on Thule, who’s running the show out there, you are going to lose loyal customers if you run your business like this. One last suggestion to Thule, “Help desks” should be helpful, not condescending.

Great customer service
By Brandt
Thule makes great products. The lock system on this is a little bit questionable in that it would only stop thieves that didn't want to get too aggressive. The rack that I received has scratches on the cross bar and Thule sent out another set right away. The rack looks a lot better than the steel lumber rack that I had on my old Tundra. A steel rack would hold more, but it wouldn't be adjustable. Nice rack.

Thule Xsporter 500 on 2013 Tacoma short bed
By Az 4X guy
The Rack arrived on time and packaging was in good shape. I took some time reading all the reviews on the rack to make sure it was what I wanted. The rack seems sturdy despite my concerns on the mounting system using the tie down channels in the Tacomas bed. I bought it to carry the occasional construction materials and kayaks. Have only hauled pipe so far and seemed solid. My two main complaints are mounting bracket allen bolts are difficult to tighten being so close to the inside of the bed wall. Difficult but not impossible. The last complaint is the lack of adjustability in the rear bar height. I know the front bar would only go down as far as the wheel wells allow. didnt see anyone mention the rear one not lowering very far either as it hits the bed wall. If you need this rack to lower below the cab (for bikes, etc) you will have to cut the riser bars to do so on a newer Tacoma short bed...Will review again later after I get a kayak trip or two in...
